SUBSTITUTE INSTRUCTOR

Reports to: Program Coordinator - Partnerships

Job Summary: Substitute Instructor is responsible for creating an inviting, fun, challenging, and energizing atmosphere for the Day Program offered to Wings Members.

Culture and Mission: Assist in enhancing the lives of adults with developmental disabilities

Responsibilities:

· Follow lesson plans provided by the full-time Instructor to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for Members

· Manage the classroom effectively to encourage Member participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment

· Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each individual Member

· Supervise Members in and out of the classroom

· Help with Member lunches when scheduled

Help with Member dismissal

· Implement appropriate behavioral interventions as necessary

· Ability to maintain professional working relationships with staff, parents, and volunteers

· Plan, write, and implement educational and vocational curriculum using all three modalities of learning, visual, auditory, and kinesthetic (long-term substitutes only)

· Transport Members in Wings passenger vans to off-site community partners as necessary

· All other duties as assigned

· Organized, attention to detail, flexible and adaptable

Requirements:

· Meet physical requirements to safely perform assigned duties

· Ability to drive 11 or 15 passenger van

· Pass criminal and motor vehicle background checks
